Biography

Piet du Toit, known as ‘Spiere’ (muscles), was a strong tight-head prop who played 14 Tests between 1958 and 1961. Born in Petrusville on 9 October 1935 and educated at Paarl Boys’ High, he came through the Stellenbosch under-19 side with his hooker Abie Malan and played for Boland.

He played against New Zealand in 1960 and on the 1960–61 tour of Britain, Ireland and France. He died on 26 February 1996.
