Biography

Dave Stewart was a tall, elusive back who played 11 Tests between 1960 and 1965, at flyhalf, centre and fullback. Born in Cape Town on 14 July 1935 and educated at Wynberg Boys’ High, he played for Western Province and South Western Districts.

He was a valuable utility player on the 1960–61 tour and played flyhalf in the win over England. He scored a try and a penalty against France in 1964. He was also a first-class cricketer. He died on 22 November 2022.
