Biography

Johnny Buchler was a steady, dependable fullback who played ten Tests and lost only one. Born in Johannesburg on 7 April 1930, he played for Transvaal. He made his debut in the 44–0 win over Scotland in 1951, played all five Tests of that tour and all four against the 1953 Wallabies, and toured Australia in 1956. He was a man of strong faith. He died on 1 August 2017.
