Biography

Ryk van Schoor was a fierce-tackling outside centre who played 12 Tests and lost only one. Born near Philadelphia in the Western Cape on 3 December 1921, he farmed tobacco in Rhodesia and played for Rhodesia and Western Province.

He made his debut against New Zealand in 1949 and formed a famous centre partnership with Tjol Lategan. On the 1951–52 tour he scored tries against Scotland and Ireland. He died on 22 March 2009.
