Biography

Jean Kleyn is a big, physical lock who played Test rugby for two countries. Born in Johannesburg on 26 August 1993, he left Western Province for Munster in 2016 and played for Ireland, including at the 2019 World Cup.

A change in World Rugby’s eligibility rules let him switch to his country of birth, and he made his Springbok debut in 2023. Months after helping Munster win the United Rugby Championship, he started the 2023 World Cup final against New Zealand, which South Africa won.
