Biography
Dick Lockyear was a scrumhalf with an excellent pass and a dependable goal-kicker. Born in Kimberley on 26 June 1931 and educated at Kimberley Boys’ High, he played for Griqualand West.
He played all four Tests against the 1960 All Blacks and kicked goals in three of them, helping South Africa win the series. He was vice-captain of the 1960–61 tour and played against Ireland and France. He died on 3 March 1988.
