Biography

Roy Dryburgh was a versatile back who played fullback or wing in eight Tests between 1955 and 1960. Born in Cape Town on 1 November 1929, he played for Western Province and Natal.

He scored a try and two conversions on debut in the 25–9 win over the British Isles at Newlands in 1955, and scored again against Australia and New Zealand in 1956. On that tour he scored six tries in a match against Queensland. He captained South Africa in two Tests against the 1960 All Blacks, winning the first 13–0. He died on 10 May 2000.
