Biography

Chum Ochse was a left wing who scored tries in his first two Tests on the 1951–52 tour, against Ireland and Wales. Born in Paarl on 9 February 1925, he played for Western Province. He won seven caps and scored a third try against Australia in 1953. He was known for his tireless covering and his love of quoting poetry. He died on 13 July 1996.
