Biography

Hansie Brewis was a slight but brilliant flyhalf who never lost a Test. Born in Oudtshoorn on 15 June 1920, he played for Northern Transvaal and won ten caps between 1949 and 1953.

He was quick off the mark and a fine kicker, dropping goals against New Zealand, Scotland and Ireland. He was a key figure in the 4–0 series win over the 1949 All Blacks and on the 1951–52 tour that beat all five European nations. He died on 9 September 2007.
