Biography

Edwill van der Merwe is a quick, elusive wing and a natural finisher. Born in Stellenbosch on 12 April 1996 and educated at Paul Roos Gymnasium, he made his Super Rugby debut for the Stormers in 2019 and spent four prolific seasons with the Lions before joining the Sharks in 2025, turning down offers from overseas.

He made a dream Test debut against Wales at Twickenham in 2024, scoring a brilliant solo try and being named man of the match.
