Biography

Jannie de Beer set a world record by dropping five goals in one Test, in the 44–21 win over England in the 1999 World Cup quarter-final. Born in Welkom on 22 April 1971, he played flyhalf for the Orange Free State.

He won 13 caps between 1997 and 1999 and scored 181 points. He came into the side for the third Test against the 1997 British Isles side and kicked South Africa to a 35–16 win. He also kicked 21 points in the 1999 World Cup semi-final against Australia.
