Biography

André Joubert was one of the greatest fullbacks of all time, known as the ‘Rolls-Royce’ of the position. Born in Ladysmith on 15 April 1964, he played for the Orange Free State and Natal and won 34 caps between 1989 and 1997.

He was safe under the high ball, read the game superbly and had a dangerous counter-attack. He played through a broken hand in the 1995 World Cup semi-final and final, which South Africa won. He scored ten Test tries and 115 points.
