Biography

Hennie Bekker was a very tall Western Province lock who scored a try on debut in the first Test against New Zealand in Christchurch in 1981. Born in Nuwerus on 12 September 1952, he scored a record 44 tries in 108 matches for Western Province, a remarkable tally for a lock. He won a second cap in Auckland later that tour. His son Andries also became a Springbok lock.
