Biography

Jasper Wiese is a powerful, aggressive eighthman who carries hard and relishes the physical side of the game. Born in Upington on 21 October 1995, he left the Cheetahs for Leicester in 2020 and was man of the match in the 2022 Premiership final, when Leicester beat Saracens to win their first English title in nine years. He moved to Urayasu D-Rocks in Japan in 2024.

He made his Test debut in 2021 and played in the series win over the British & Irish Lions that year. He started the 2023 World Cup final against New Zealand, which South Africa won. In 2025 his younger brother Cobus joined him as a Springbok.
