Biography

André Vos was a ferocious-tackling loose forward who captained South Africa in 16 of his 33 Tests. Born in East London on 9 January 1975 and educated at Selborne College, he played for the Lions. He scored two tries against Spain at the 1999 World Cup and led the side through 2000, including the famous 46–40 win over New Zealand. He was South African Player of the Year in 2001 and later played for Harlequins in England.
