Biography

Fritz van Heerden was a tall Western Province forward who played lock and flank in 14 Tests between 1994 and 1999. Born in Roodepoort on 29 June 1970, he scored a try against Tonga in 1997 and played at the 1999 World Cup. He also played for Leicester Tigers, where he was known for contesting the opposition’s line-out throws.
