Biography

HO de Villiers was an adventurous fullback who changed the way the position was played, always looking to attack. Born in Johannesburg on 10 March 1945 and educated at Dale College, where he was head boy, he played for UCT and Western Province.

He won 14 caps between 1967 and 1970 and kicked four conversions and a penalty on debut in the 26–3 win over France. He toured France in 1968 and Britain in 1969–70. Injuries cut his career short. He died on 20 February 2022.
