Biography
Sakkie van Zyl finally won his Springbok cap at 33 after years of near misses. Born in Dealesville on 1 July 1932, he captained the Orange Free State to a win over the touring 1964 Welsh side and was persuaded by Danie Craven to play one more season. He played loose-head prop in all four Tests in New Zealand in 1965 and was vice-captain. He died on 24 November 2017.
