Biography

Okey Geffin was a prop who became a match-winning goal-kicker. Born in Johannesburg on 28 May 1921, he played for Transvaal and won seven caps without losing a Test.

In the first Test against the 1949 All Blacks at Newlands he kicked five penalties for a 15–11 win, and his goals helped South Africa win the series 4–0. He also kicked seven conversions in the 44–0 win over Scotland in 1951. He scored 48 Test points. He learned to kick while a prisoner of war during the Second World War. He died on 16 October 2004.
