Biography

Jan Lotz was an outstanding Transvaal hooker who played eight Tests between 1937 and 1938. Born in Krugersdorp on 26 August 1910, he was particular about the timing of the scrum. He hooked in the 1937 series win in New Zealand and played all three Tests against the 1938 British Isles side, scoring a try at Newlands. He died on 13 August 1986.
