Biography

Lukas Strachan was a superbly built, fast loose forward who played ten Tests between 1932 and 1938. Born in Parys on 12 September 1907, he played for Transvaal and later Northern Transvaal.

He went to Britain in 1931–32 as a lock but made his name on the flank, debuting in the 7–0 win over England at Twickenham. On the 1937 tour he played a big part in the comeback win over New Zealand in Christchurch. He died on 4 March 1985.
