Biography
Royal Morkel was the biggest of the Morkel family, a fast and powerful forward who also boxed and swam. Born in Kimberley on 22 March 1894, he played for Western Province and won two caps at lock in New Zealand in 1921: the 9–5 win at Eden Park and the 0–0 draw in Wellington. He died on 22 October 1926, aged 32.
