Biography

Percy Allport was a fullback who played two Tests against the British touring team in 1910. Born in Calvinia on 24 March 1885, he was schooled at Worcester Gimnasium and played for Western Province.

He made his debut at 25 in the second Test at Crusaders (St George’s Park), Port Elizabeth, a 3–8 defeat. He kept his place for the deciding Test at Newlands a week later and scored a try as South Africa won 21–5 to take the series. He was Springbok number 121 and died on 13 January 1959, aged 73.
