Biography
Bingo Burger was regarded as one of the best forwards in the country in the early 1900s. Born in Hamburg in the Eastern Cape on 12 August 1883 and schooled at Peddie High, he learned his rugby in King William’s Town and played for Border.
He toured Britain and Ireland in 1906–07, playing against Scotland, Ireland and Wales, and won a fourth cap against the British Isles in 1910. He died on 8 August 1963.
