Biography
Jack Hirsch was a powerful, fast back from Port Elizabeth. Born on 20 February 1883, he was educated at Grey High School and at Shrewsbury School in England, then studied at Clare College, Cambridge, where cricket was his main game.
Back home he played for Crusaders and Eastern Province and toured Britain and Ireland in 1906–07, making his Test debut at halfback in the win over Ireland. He won a second cap at centre in the 14–10 win over the British Isles in 1910. He died on 26 February 1958.
