Biography

Anton Stegmann played on the left wing in two Tests on the 1906–07 tour, scoring a try in the 15–12 win over Ireland in Belfast. Born in Cradock on 25 August 1883 and educated at Swartland, he played for Stellenbosch and Western Province. He was known for safe hands and strong tackling.

He went on to become a minister of the Dutch Reformed Church, serving congregations across the country. He died on 23 January 1972, aged 88.
