Biography

Alec Reid scored a try on his only Test appearance, the 8–0 win over the British Isles at Newlands in 1903 that won the series. Born in Swellendam on 23 November 1878, he played for Hamiltons and Western Province. His brother Bert toured with the 1906–07 Springboks. Alec later worked for Barclays Bank and was the first chairman of the Far East Rand rugby sub-union. He died on 18 May 1952.
