Biography

Hugh Ferris was an Irishman, born in Newry, County Down, on 6 December 1877 and educated at Methodist College, Belfast. He played for Transvaal and won his only cap at halfback in the 8–0 win over the British Isles at Newlands in 1903, the victory that gave South Africa its first series win. He died on 17 July 1929.
