Biography

Rajah Martheze was a fast, honest Griqualand West forward known for his work rate in the scrum and his pace in the open. Born on Robben Island on 29 November 1877 and educated at Kimberley Boys’ High, he played for the Kimberley club for many years.

He made his debut in the 0–0 draw with the British Isles in Kimberley in 1903, then toured Britain and Ireland in 1906–07, playing in the wins over Ireland and Wales. He died on 16 February 1912.
