Biography
Bill Bisset liked to describe himself as the first loose forward to play for South Africa. Born in Kenilworth on 11 September 1867 and educated at Diocesan College (Bishops), he played for Western Province at the first Currie Cup tournament in 1889 and in two Tests against the 1891 British Isles side.
Away from rugby he had a long career as a Cape Town attorney and served as President of the Cape Law Society. He was also a keen oarsman and billiards player, and a stalwart of the Villagers club. He died on 23 February 1958, aged 90, the last of six Bisset brothers.
