Biography
Charlie Brown was one of only three players who appeared in all three Tests against the 1903 British Isles side, helping South Africa win its first Test series. Born in Kuruman on 29 January 1878, the son of a missionary, and educated at SACS, he played for the Hamiltons club, Western Province and later Rhodesia. He fought with Roberts’ Horse in the Anglo-Boer War and died in Boksburg on 18 June 1944.
