Biography
Andrew Morkel was a strong-running left wing and a big kicker of the ball. Born in Somerset West on 4 August 1882 and educated in Kimberley, he moved to Johannesburg in 1903 and played for Pirates and Transvaal.
He won his only Test cap in the 10–10 draw with the British Isles in Johannesburg in 1903, and toured Britain and Ireland with the 1906–07 side. He was one of several members of the Morkel family to play for South Africa. He died on 14 June 1965.
