Biography

Paul de Waal played as a forward in the fourth Test against the 1896 British Isles side at Newlands, the 5–0 win that was South Africa’s first Test victory. It was his only cap. Born in Stellenbosch on 2 June 1875 and educated at Paul Roos Gymnasium, he represented Western Province. He died on 18 May 1945.
