Biography

Tiaan Strauss was a powerful Western Province eighthman who played 15 Tests between 1992 and 1994 and captained South Africa once. Born in Upington on 28 June 1965, he played a record 156 matches for Western Province.

He scored a try against England at Twickenham in 1992 and two against Argentina in 1993. He later moved to Australia, played rugby league for Cronulla and then won caps for the Wallabies, making him one of very few men to play Test rugby for both countries.
