Biography
Carel Fourie was a dashing Eastern Province wing who played four Tests against France in 1974 and 1975 and won them all. Born in Uitenhage on 1 August 1950, he scored 22 tries in ten matches for the 1972 Gazelles in Argentina. He kicked a penalty on debut in Toulouse and scored a try and a penalty in the 33–18 win in Pretoria in 1975. A broken leg ended his career early. His brother Polla also played for South Africa. He died on 5 May 1997.
