Biography
Jan-Boland Coetzee was a tough, clever flanker who excelled at the breakdown. Born in Porterville on 20 January 1945, he played for Western Province and won six caps between 1974 and 1976, including all four Tests of the 1976 series win over New Zealand. He was the first captain of the Stellenbosch under-18 side and later became a successful coach and wine farmer. He died on 12 September 2025.
