Biography

Willem Barnard was a lock who played in the last Test of the 1949 series, an 11–8 win that completed the 4–0 sweep, and against Wales on the 1951–52 tour. Born in Upington on 7 August 1923, he played for Harlequins and Northern Transvaal and later Griqualand West. He died on 14 June 2012.
