Biography

Charlie Chignell was an English-born forward from the Gardens club in Cape Town who won his only cap in the deciding Test of 1891 at Newlands. Born in Heavitree, Devon, on 28 April 1866, he earned his place after two strong performances for the Cape Colony against the British tourists. He died on 17 October 1952.
