Biography

Bubbles Koch was a big, gifted forward who played all four Tests against the 1949 All Blacks, three at lock and one on the flank, and won them all. Born in Hopefield on 13 June 1921, he played for Western Province and caught the selectors’ eye with a dominant display for Rhodesia against Northern Transvaal. He died on 2 November 2003.
