Biography

Jack van der Schyff was a fullback with a huge kick. Born in Kimberley on 11 June 1928 and educated at Kimberley Boys’ High, he played for Griqualand West and Western Transvaal.

He played four Tests against the 1949 All Blacks, all won, at the age of 21. He returned for the first Test against the 1955 British Isles side at Ellis Park, kicking ten points in a 22–23 defeat. He died on 3 December 2001.
