Biography

Frankie Waring was a clever centre known for his short attacking punt. Born in Cape Town on 7 November 1908 and educated at Wynberg Boys’ High and SACS, he played for UCT and Western Province.

He scored a try on debut in the 8–3 win over Ireland in Dublin in 1931, played against England, and played all five Tests against the 1933 Wallabies, scoring again in Durban. He withdrew from the 1937 tour. He died on 24 January 2000.
