Biography
Sharkey Osler, the younger brother of Bennie, played outside centre in the 17–0 win over New Zealand at Kingsmead in 1928, his only Test. Born in Aliwal North on 31 January 1907, he played for Western Province and loved attacking rugby. He was injured in that Test, and a knee injury ended his career on the 1931–32 tour. He was admired for his sportsmanship and later became a teacher. He died on 16 April 1980.
