Biography
Bob Snedden was South Africa’s second rugby captain. He led the side in the second Test against the 1891 British Isles team at the Eclectic Cricket Ground in Kimberley, a hard-fought 3–0 defeat.
Born in Dunfermline, Scotland, on 20 March 1867, he settled in Kimberley, played for the Pirates club and captained Griqualand West and the Cape Colony against the tourists. Many felt he deserved more than one Test. He also played cricket for Griqualand West. He died in Liskeard, Cornwall, on 3 April 1931.
