Biography

PK Albertyn captained South Africa in all four Tests against the 1924 British Isles side, winning three and drawing one. Born in Kleinmond on 27 May 1897 and educated at Paul Roos Gymnasium, he began as a wing at Stellenbosch before a knee injury moved him to centre.

He was studying medicine at Guy’s Hospital in London when Markötter persuaded him to come home for the 1924 series. He scored a try in the 17–0 win in Johannesburg. He represented South Western Districts and was known as a thinking player. He died on 7 March 1973.
